“NOPD’s Narcotics and Task Force Units Investigated 1,520 Complaints, 39 Narcotics Cases and Confiscated 14 Guns in One Week”

 

 

In one week, The New Orleans Police Department’s Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated approximately 1,520 complaints.  As a result the NOPD’s Task Force Units, they conducted 2 Search Warrants, investigated 33 Felony cases, conducted 474 Vehicle Checks and issued 210 citations.  They made 39 Narcotics cases, confiscated 14 guns, and numerous amounts of Crack, Marijuana, Crack Cocaine, Powder Cocaine, and Heroin.

 

Since July of 2010 Officers have investigated approximately 124,337 complaints, executed approximately 585 Search Warrants, made approximately 3,466 Felony cases, conducted approximately 46,909 vehicle checks, issued approximately 22,380 citations, made approximately 3,231 Narcotics cases, confiscated approximately 861 guns and numerous amounts of Illegal Narcotics.

 

These results are from January 22, 2012 thru January 28, 2012.

 

First District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 214 complaints and made 32 cases for 7 Felony, 13 Misdemeanors, and 12 Municipal violations.  The units wrote 25 reports, made 151 pedestrian contacts and had 51 field interviews.  The units stopped 162 vehicles, wrote 61 citations and made 13 traffic arrests.  They made 7 Narcotic cases confiscating 1 gun and Narcotics.                                 

 

Second District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 223 complaints, 2 previous complaints and made 31 cases including 1 juvenile for 3 Felony, 25 Misdemeanors, and 3 Municipal violations.  They made 118 pedestrian contacts, 35 field interviews and wrote 31 reports.  They made 85 vehicle stops, issued 13 citations and made 3 traffic arrests.  They conducted 3 Wanted Checks and made 2 Narcotics case confiscating 4 guns and Narcotics.     

 

Third District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 238 complaints, 5 hot line tips and had 3 previous complaints.  They made 23 cases for 4 Felony 15 Misdemeanors and 4 Municipal violations and issued 10 Summons and had 2 Curfew and 5 Truant violators.  They made 35 pedestrian contacts, 67 field interviews and wrote 21 reports.  They made 95 vehicle stops, issued 57 citations and made 14 traffic arrests.  They made 2 Narcotics cases and confiscated 2 guns and Narcotics.           

 

 

 

Fourth District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 194 complaints, 11 previous complaints and had 2 hot line tips.  They made 51 cases for 11 Felony, 31 Misdemeanor and 9 Municipal violations and had 1 Truant violator and issued 2 Summons.  They made 72 pedestrian contacts, 50 field interviews and wrote 29 reports.  The units stopped 33 vehicles and wrote 23 citations and made 4 traffic arrests.  They conducted 1 Wanted Check, executed 2 Search Warrants and made 15 Narcotics cases confiscating 1 gun, Narcotics and $2227.00 in cash.   

 

Fifth District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 205 complaints, 12 previous complaints and had 11 hot line tips.  They made 23 cases including 1 juvenile for 1 Felony, 11 Misdemeanor and 11 Municipal violations and had 1 Curfew violator and issued 2 Summons.  They made 75 field interviews, had 59 pedestrian contacts and wrote 25 reports.  The units stopped 49 vehicles, issued 21 citations and made 2 traffic arrests.  They made 7 Narcotics cases confiscating 1 gun and Narcotics.                     

                            

Sixth District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 130 complaints and had 5 previous complaints and 1 hot line tip.  They made 11 cases for 2 Felony, 8 Misdemeanor, and 1 Municipal violation and issued 3 Summons.  They made 32 pedestrian contacts, 13 field interviews and wrote 14 reports.  The units stopped 24 vehicles, wrote 15 citations and made 2 traffic arrests.  They made 4 Wanted Checks and 3 Narcotics cases confiscating 3 guns, Narcotics and $8006.00 in cash.                       

 

Seventh District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 149 complaints and 10 previous complaints.  They made 23 cases for 2 Felony, 20 Misdemeanor, 1 Municipal and issued 1 Summons and had 6 Curfew violators.  They made 42 pedestrian contacts, 37 field interviews and wrote 25 reports.  The units stopped 16 vehicles, wrote11 citations and made 2 traffic arrests.  They executed 3 Search Warrants, conducted 3 Wanted Checks and confiscating 1 gun.              

 

Eighth District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 167 complaints and made 47 cases for 3 Felony, 17 Misdemeanor, 27 Municipal violations and issued 34 Summons.  The units stopped 10 vehicles, wrote 9 citations and made 3 traffic arrests.  They made 75 pedestrian contacts, 74 field interviews and wrote 22 reports.  The units made 3 Narcotics cases confiscating Narcotics.

Any person who, after the commission of a felony, shall harbor, conceal, or aid the offender, knowing or having reasonable ground to believe that he has committed the felony, and with the intent that he may avoid or escape from arrest, trial, conviction, or punishment shall be charged with R.S. 14:25; Relative to Accessories After the Fact. 

 

An accessory after the fact may be tried and punished, notwithstanding the fact that the principal felon may not have been arrested, tried, convicted, or amenable to justice.  

 

Whoever becomes an accessory after the fact shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars, or imprisoned, with or without hard labor, for not more than five years, or both; provided that in no case shall his punishment be greater than one-half of the maximum provided by law for a principal offender.
