NOPD Arrests 1 Suspect for Aggravated Rape; Identifies 3 Other Suspects Considered Armed and Dangerous
(February 1, 2012)- New Orleans Police arrested one local man tonight for the aggravated kidnapping and rape of a woman that happened in the 1300-block of South Gayoso Street last Thursday. They have also identified 3 other suspects in this case. These suspects are considered armed and dangerous, so no one should approach any of them. If any of these suspects is spotted, the NOPD asks the public to immediately call 9-1-1.
After receiving critical information from members of the community, detectives were able today to acquire warrants for the arrest of four local men in the attack. At around 5:30 tonight, 21-year-old Brian Beasley turned himself in to NOPD Headquarters. Beasley is charged with Armed Robbery, Aggravated Rape and Aggravated Kidnapping.
Beasley has 2 felony arrests and 3 misdemeanor arrests. He has been arrested for Possession of Narcotics, Resisting an Officer, Possession of Marijuana, municipal attachments and Criminal Trespassing.
Three other suspects in this crime are:
21-year-old Jermaine Rumley, black male
Rumley is a possible career criminal with 5 felony arrests and 9 misdemeanor arrests. He has been arrested for Illegal Use of a Weapon, Illegal Firearm during a Crime, Illegal Carrying of a Weapon, Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number, firearm additional penalties, Resisting/Obstructing an Officer, Possession of Marijuana (3 times), Narcotics, Flight from an Officer, Disturbing the Peace, Theft, attachments and warrants
19-year-old Darren Holmes, black male
Holmes has 3 felony arrests and 13 midemeanor arrests. He has been arrested for Illegal Carrying a Weapon, Concealed Weapon, Resisting an Officer, Stalker, Violation of Protective Order, Flight from an Officer, Armed Robbery, Battery, Possession of Narcotics, Theft, Disturbing the Peace, Criminal Damage and Criminal Trespass.
17-year-old Glenn Elliott, black male
Elliott is a possible career criminal and has 5 felony arrests and 2 misdemeanor arrests. Elliott has been arrested for Concealed Weapon, Firearm additional penalties, Possession of Narcotics and Possession of Stolen Property.
On Thursday, January 26, 2012, the victim was in the 4100 block of Thalia Street when she was kidnapped and ordered to go to the 1300 Block of South Gayoso Street. While in an abandoned residence, the victim was raped by multiple subjects.
“This is one of those times this department is counting on the people of New Orleans who know anything about this heinous crime to step up and work with our detectives so we can find these 3 suspects”, said Superintendent Ronal Serpas. “The information we’ve obtained so far has enabled us to put names on these alleged attackers, who have no right to be roaming the streets tonight with law abiding citizens. We are extremely grateful to those who have spoken up about this unconscionable crime”, Serpas said.

You do not have to give your name, and if your tip helps lead to the arrest and eventual indictment of one of these suspects, you may be eligible for a cash reward.
