NOPD Arrests Suspect for Aggravated Rape; Identifies 3 Other Suspects

(February 1, 2012)-  New Orleans Police arrested one local man tonight for the aggravated kidnapping and rape of a woman that happened in the 1300-block of South Gayoso Street last Thursday.  They have also identified 3 other suspects in this case, and are asking the public’s help in locating them.

After receiving critical information from members of the community, detectives were able today to obtain warrants for the arrest of four local men in the attack.  At around 5:30 tonight, 21-year-old Brian Beasley turned himself in to NOPD Headquarters.   Beasley is charged with Armed Robbery, Aggravated Rape and Aggravated Kidnapping.

Three other suspects wanted for this crime are:

21-year-old Jermaine Rumley, black male

19-year-old Darren Holmes, black male

17-year-old Glenn Elliott, black male

On Thursday, January 26, 2012, the victim was in the 4100 block of Thalia Street when she was kidnapped and ordered to go to the 1300 Block of South Gayoso Street.  While in an abandoned residence, the victim was raped by multiple subjects.

“This department is counting on the people of New Orleans who know anything about this heinous crime to step up and work with our detectives to find these 3 suspects”, said Superintendent Ronal Serpas.  “The information we’ve obtained so far has enabled us to put names on these alleged attackers, who have no right to be roaming the streets tonight with law abiding citizens.  We are extremely grateful to those who have spoken up about this unconscionable crime”, Serpas said.

If you think you know the whereabouts of any of the three suspects, you’re asked to call Crime Stoppers at (504) 822-1111.  You do not have to give your name, and if your tip helps lead to the arrest and eventual indictment of one of these suspects, you may be eligible for a cash reward.

Photos of the suspects will be released once acquired.
