Superintendent Serpas Announces NOPD Promotions; New Commander Appointments

(January 27, 2012)- Today Superintendent Ronal Serpas announced promotions within the NOPD as well as new Police Commander appointments, which will become effective on Sunday, January 29, 2012.  He also made some changes in Patrol District leadership.   

Eight sergeants have been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and 23 officers have been promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  Also, three high-ranking officers have been appointed to the post of Police Commander.

“I’m delighted to be able to make the promotions and appointments I’ve announced today, as these individuals have exhibited an exemplary work ethic and deserve this recognition”, said Superintendent Serpas.   “And I’d also like to congratulate the three ranking officers who are newly appointed Police Commanders.  They have shown a real dedication to serving the people of New Orleans and I believe they will play a significant role in this department’s restructuring efforts”, said Serpas.  

 “A continual assessment of leadership personnel is a duty I take very seriously.  My senior leadership team and I will continue to monitor the performance of the entire department and make changes where necessary to ensure that our neighborhoods are receiving the best policing we can provide,” said Superintendent Serpas
