Sheriff Newell Norman reports around 9:46 PM this evening, our officers responded to numerous reports of gunshots in the area of the 6400 block of Millender Drive in Marrero. First responding officers located the body of a black male, identified as Reginald Anthony, 18, of 2350 Park Place in Gretna lying face down on the sidewalk in front of 6436 Millender Drive suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. Crime Scene Technicians recovered a number of spent 40 Cal. shell casings from the scene. Homicide investigators discovered a 9mm semi automatic handgun near where the victim was found. Colonel John N. Fortunato Public Information Office |

| ARMED ROBBERY ARRESTS |

Sheriff Newell Normand announces the arrest of Robert Fleming, B/M 27, of 1623 Joilet Street in New Orleans and Fenton Williams, B/M, 32 of 1625 Joilet Street in New Orleans. As you may recall, on August 24, 2009, shortly after 10:30 AM, our 911 center received a report of an armed robbery in the 6600 block of Airline Drive in Metairie. As a result of a follow-up investigation, Robbery Detective Russell Varmall developed the identity of Fleming and Williams. Both were arrested for one count of armed robbery. An arrest warrant has been issued for Jevon Brown, B/M, 29, of 1923 South Salcedo in New Orleans for one count of armed robbery in connection with this incident. | THEFTS FROM VENDING MACHINE ARRESTS |

Sheriff Newell Normand reports, on August 24, 2009, our Second District Officers arrested two men in connection with a theft from a vending machine. Corey, Esquerre, W/M, 36, of 100 Plaquemine Street in Metairie and James Scott, W/M, 50, of 843 Camp Street in New Orleans were taken into custody after breaking into a vending machine at 605 Lapalco Blvd in unincorporated Gretna. Burglary Detective David Kachtik conducted a follow up investigation and learned they were responsible for additional thefts from vending machines. The locations of the incidents are as follows; June 27, 2009, 1400 South Clearview Parkway, Jefferson July 9, 2009, 4828 Zenith Street, Metairie July 16, 2009, 202 Division Street, Metairie July 22, 2009, 5300 Irving Street, Metairie July 15, 2009, 710 Bonnabel Boulevard, Metairie July 26, 2009, 2200 Transcontinental Drive, Metairie Each subject was arrested for one count of felony theft, one count of burglary, five counts of criminal damage to a coin operated device, three counts of misdemeanor theft, and one count of simple criminal damage. Sheriff Newell Normand reports, this evening, around 9:45 PM our officers responded to reports of gunshots in the area of 3000 Mount Blanc. As our officers were enroute we began receiving additional reports of two individuals shot in the 5000 block of Rochester. First responding officers located both victims, who in turn were transported to West Jefferson General Hospital where one of the victims was pronounced dead on arrival. Investigators located a number of spent shell casings scattered about the area where both victims were found, along with a bag of marijuana. Homicide detectives have yet to identify any suspects nor have we established a motive. The identity of the deceased victim is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
