PURSE SNATCHING SUSPECT

Recently there has been a number of purse snatching within the Eighth
District. Based on the Modus Operandi as well as the general
descriptions given by the victims, it is believed these incidents are
being committed by the same individual. The perpetrator has committed
these robberies between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. He is
suspected in robberies ranging from the 300 block of South Rampart
Street to the area of Esplanade and Chartres. He was described as
follows:

Black / Male 25-35 Years of age
5’09” – 5’11”, 150lbs. -165 lbs.
Short Hair

He has used two different bicycles. One was described as a dark beach
cruiser bike. The other was described as a small framed dark colored
bicycle.

On Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at 9:05pm, the victim, W/F, was walking
near Decatur and Dumaine when she was approached by an unknown black
male on a bicycle. The suspect grabbed the victim’s wallet from her
purse and fled on the bicycle on Chartres toward Esplanade, then
unknown.



The suspect is described as a black male, medium build, wearing a
white t shirt and blue jeans and riding a cruiser style bicycle.

On Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 4:00am, the victim, W/F, was walking
near Canal and Dorsiere when she was approached by an unknown black
male. The suspect grabbed the victim’s purse from her grasp and fled
on foot on Dorsiere, turning on Iberville toward Royal, then unknown.



The suspect is described as a black male, 6’02”, thin build, 30’s,
short hair.

SIMPLE ROBBERY, 300 BLOCK OF JULIA

On Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 2:08am, the victim, W/M, was walking
in the 300 block of Perdido when he was approached by three unknown
black males. One suspect pushed the victim to the ground and demanded
money. The victim refused and produced a knife and the suspects fled
on foot on Julia Commerce, turning toward Canal, then unknown.



The suspects are described as (1)a black male, 5’07”, thin build,
light complexion, wearing a tan jacket and red baseball cap, (2)a
black male, 5’07”, heavy build, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and
(3)a black male, 5’07”, thin build, light complexion, wearing a dark
brown shirt.

ARMED ROBBERY, 200 BLOCK OF LA SALLE

On Sunday, March 14, 2010, at 4:30pm, the victim, W/F, was getting
into her vehicle in the 200 block of La Salle when they were
approached by an unknown black male. The suspect produced a pistol
and demanded the victim drive to an ATM. The victim drove for several
blocks and then exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The suspect took
the vehicle and fled in an unknown direction. Responding officers
located the vehicle.



The suspect is described as a black male, 5’09”, thin build, 50’s,
wearing a white t shirt and blue jeans.
