AWARD LETTERS & UNIT CITATIONS PRESENTATION

 

             

            New Orleans, LA - Superintendent Ronal W. Serpas is pleased to present award letters and unit citations to New Orleans Police Department members. The presentation will be held after Comstat on Friday, November 19, 2010, 11:00 A.M., at the University of New Orleans Auditorium, Engineering Building, 1st floor.

 

            To be awarded:            40 Letters of Commendation

                                                  5 Letters of Lifesaving

                                                  1 Achievement Unit Citation

                                                  2 Meritorious Unit Citations

 

            LETTER OF COMMENDATION:  A letter of commendation may be issued by the Superintendent of Police to any employee who has rendered a service reflecting credit upon the employee and upon the Department.  Such service may include, but shall not be limited to, outstanding criminal arrests; number of concealed weapons arrests; continuous arrest credits; and support activity.

 

            LETTER OF LIFESAVING: A letter for lifesaving may be issued by the Superintendent of Police to any member who has saved the life of another in circumstances where the member’s own life was not in danger.

 

            ACHIEVEMENT UNIT CITATION:  The Achievement Unit Citation is awarded to a unit that has displayed exceptional performance of outstanding services for at least three continuous months.

 

            MERITORIOUS UNIT CITATION:  The Meritorious Unit Citation is awarded to a unit that has displayed heroism or meritorious service performed as a result of a group effort under extremely difficult and hazardous conditions.
