NOPD’s Narcotics and Task Force Units Investigated 1,826 Complaints, and Made 52 Narcotics Cases in Seven Days    

 

NEW ORLEANS - In seven days, the New Orleans Police Department’s Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated approximately 1,826 complaints.  As a result the NOPD’s Task Force Units, they conducted nine Search Warrants, investigated 66 Felony cases, conducted 791 Vehicle Checks resulting in 241 citations, and 52 Narcotics cases.  They confiscated 10 guns, numerous amounts of Crack, Marijuana, Crack Cocaine, Powder Cocaine, and Heroin.

 

Serpas said.” The continued successes of the Task Force Units are from the continued calls from our citizens through our complaint line and Crimestoppers Tips line.  With these tips and information, our officers are able to continuously make these good cases.”      

 

These results are from November 07, 2010 thru November 13, 2010. 

 

First District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 250 complaints, made 29 adult cases including one juvenile for 29 Felony, seven Misdemeanor and two Municipal violations.  The units wrote 28 reports, made 256 pedestrian contacts, 23 field interviews, stopped 148 vehicles, wrote 65 citations, and made 10 traffic arrests.  They executed one search warrant, and confiscated two guns, Marijuana, Heroin, and Crack Cocaine.             

 

Second District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 393 complaints, five hot line complaints, made 22 arrests for seven Felony, 17 Misdemeanor, and four Municipal violations.  They made 407 pedestrian contacts, 46 field interviews, wrote 24 reports, conducted 234 vehicle stops, issued 38 citations, made 13 traffic arrests and recovered one stolen vehicle.  The units conducted nine wanted checks, one search warrant, made six narcotics cases, confiscating Marijuana, Heroin and seized $1,346.00 in cash.            

 

Third District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 165 complaints, made 15 Misdemeanor, 17 Municipal, four Juvenile cases and had four Curfew violators.  The units made 45 pedestrian contacts, 116 field interviews, and wrote 18 reports.  They made 96 vehicle stops, issued 31 citations, made nine traffic arrests and conducted two wanted checks.  

 

Fourth District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 102 complaints, arrested 42 persons for 10 felony, 48 Misdemeanor, and five Municipal violations.  They conducted 110 vehicle stops, issued 36 citations, made five traffic arrests, and wrote 25 reports.  They conducted 67 field interviews, 96 pedestrian contacts, conducted two wanted checks, made 11 narcotics cases, and confiscated Crack Cocaine, Cocaine, Heroin, Illegal pills and Marijuana. 

 

Fifth District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 145 complaints, one hot line complaint, made 16 arrests for five Felony, five Misdemeanor, and six Municipal violations.  They conducted 33 vehicle checks, issued 8 citations, and wrote 11 reports.  The units made 81 pedestrian contacts, 58 field interviews, one search warrant, and made five narcotics cases confiscating Marijuana, Crystal Methamphetamine and seized $300.00.

Detectives followed up on a Crimestopper’s Tip where a subject was selling drugs from

2009 Bartholomew Street
.  After conducting surveillances and making a controlled buy. The detectives obtained a Search Warrant for the location. The suspect was arrested and was found to be cultivating a marijuana plant in the residence. Also two handguns were recovered during the search. A total of 32.22 grams of Marijuana recovered in the arrest.

Task Force units received a Crimestopper’s Tip at

2731 North Rampart Street
which resulted in two State Misdemeanors, four Municipal and one Felony arrest including one for Homicide.       

Task Force units conducted a traffic stop at

North Claiborne Avenue
and
Saint Anthony Street
and found the driver in possession of 0.40 grams Methamphetamine. 

 

Sixth District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 170 complaints, one hot line complaint, made 11 Felony, 12 Misdemeanor, and 11 Municipal violations resulting in 26 persons being arrested. They conducted 32 vehicle checks, issued five citations, made one traffic arrest and wrote 26 reports.  The units conducted six wanted checks, made 77 pedestrian contacts, and 31 field interviews.  They executed three search warrants, and made 14 narcotics cases confiscating Marijuana, Heroin, Crack, and Cocaine and seized $650.00.

            On 11-10-2010 at 7:00 P.M., Officers Lucretia Gantner and Jon Burnette observed a subject walking across the street near

2500 Martin Luther King Boulevard
that appeared to be intoxicated.  The officers stop the subject.  When the suspect walked over to the police unit, he attempted to discard a bag of Marijuana.  The suspect fled to Erato and Willow Streets where he was apprehended by Officer Burnette and Officer Carlos Amador.  He had additional bags of Marijuana in his possession and was arrested for Possession of Marijuana. 

On 11-09-2010 at 7:30 P.M., Officers Lucretia Gantner and Jon Burnette observed a vehicle disregard a turn signal at

Jackson Avenue
and
South Caliborne Avenue
.  When the officers attempted to pull the vehicle over for the traffic violation, the driver, refused to pull over for a brief period, but then stopped the vehicle.  The rear passenger was found to be in possession of a small bag one gram of Heroin, and had a history of narcotics violations. He was arrested for possession of Heroin and the driver was arrested for having a suspended driver’s license.

On 11-08-2010 at 8:00 P.M., Sargeant David Liang along with the members of the Sixth District Task Force Lucretia Gantner, Jon Burnette, Randolph Daniel, Carlos Amador, and Devin Ashmore were on patrol near South Liberty and Felicity Streets when they observed a subject, standing in the middle of the street wearing a leather jacket and a red bandana on his head. When the suspect observed the marked units, he immediately put his hand over his waistband area and attempted to run into a back yard. Before jumping over the fence he discarded a black 9mm automatic handgun with an extended magazine from underneath his leather jacket. The Task Force, with the help of the Sixth District DIU unit and the Second Watch, formed a perimeter around the block and eventually apprehended the suspect.

He was arrested for Illegal possession of a firearm (Concealed Firearm)

On 11-7-2010 at 9:00 P.M., Officers Carlos Amador and Devin Ashmore conducted a traffic stop in the 2000 Block of Seventh Street.  The driver was found to be in possession of four grams of Marijuana, and was arrested for Possession of Marijuana, second offense.

Sixth District Detectives conducted a controlled purchase from

2414 S. Roman Street
after receiving information from an informant and verifying the information from surveillance.  Detectives secured a search warrant for the location and upon executing the warrant they discovered 28grams of Heroin and 16 ounces of Cocaine.  Detectives arrested Ahmad Hill and Laquana Jones.  The drugs have an estimated street value of over $100,000.00.  Sixth District Detectives further seized an Ak-47 assault rifle and a Taurus 38 Revolver that had been hidden under an abandoned house at First and South. Prieur Streets.  The guns were fully loaded and functional at the time of the seizure.

                                                                                                                                                     

Seventh District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 280 complaints, seven hot line complaints, and nine previous complaints.  They made 11 arrests for one Felony, eight Misdemeanors, and one Municipal violator.  They made 147 pedestrian contacts, 127 field interviews and wrote 11 reports.  The units stopped 103 vehicles, wrote 14 citations, conducted 17 wanted checks, three search warrants, made one narcotics case confiscating, Marijuana.

Sergeant Kristi Bagneris along with officers Damond Davis and James Kish responded to an armed robbery that had just occurred at

Cove Street
and I-10 Service Road. Officers spotted an individual matching the description of the perpetrator. The officers apprehend the subject in the HiddenLake apartment complex without further incident. The victim identified the perpetrator on scene. 

                                                                                                                                                                               

Eighth District Narcotics and Task Force Units investigated 321 complaints, made 14 cases for three Felony, one misdemeanor, 19 Municipal violations and issued four Summons. They conducted 35 vehicle checks, issued 44 citations, made two traffic arrests and wrote five reports. They conducted 173 field interviews, 96 pedestrian contacts, 16 wanted checks, and made three Narcotics cases confiscating Cocaine.    

                                                                                                                                                          

The Narcotics and Task Force Units began in July of 2010 and have investigated approximately 27,453 complaints, executed approximately 144 Search Warrants, made approximately 946 Felony cases, conducted approximately 10,135 vehicle checks, issued approximately 4,029 citations, made approximately 821 Narcotics cases, confiscated approximately 180 guns and numerous amounts of Illegal Narcotics.
