Homicide Investigation
New Orleans, - The New Orleans Police Department arrested 22-year-old Tyrone Brown and booked him with Second Degree Murder. The incident occurred inside of
4521 Copernicus Street in Algiers where 3-year-old Brashun Blue died from an apparently gunshot wound.According to the preliminary investigation, at approximately 8:00 A.M., Fourth District officers responded to a child shot and upon their arrival found the child lying on the floor with an apparent gunshot wound to the facial area. The child was taken to a local hospital where he died. Detectives learned Brown was inside of the house at the time the child was shot. There was a female that apparently stayed in the house that night. This morning the female apparently left with her child and returned and knocked on the door. When Brown went to answer the door, he found 3-year-old Brashaun Blue lying on the floor shot.
Detectives confiscated the weapon, conducted their investigation, consulted with the District Attorney’s Office and booked Brown with Second Degree Murder. The investigation is on going and Detectives are in the process of determining the origin of the weapon.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office, will conduct their investigation to determine the exact cause of death.
Homicide Detective Timothy Bender is in charge of the investigation.
