NOPD’S Special Operations Division Task Force Unit Booked
19 Suspects Last Week
New Orleans- In one week’s time the Special Operations Division (S.O.D) Task Force Unit investigated 132 complaints, yielding 19 arrests for 22 Felonies, 26 Misdemeanors and 4 Municipal violations. Officers conducted 39 vehicle stops and made 5 Traffic arrests. The unit made 5 Narcotic cases, conducted 61 wanted checks, and made 112 pedestrian contacts. They wrote 49 reports and confiscated 1.0 gram of Marijuana and 14.0 grams of Heroin.
“Day after day the New Orleans Police Department receives calls from caring and involved citizens who want their neighborhoods to be free of crime. This is an important part of our partnership with the community and is addressed through hard work and results like these”, said Superintendent of Police Ronal Serpas.

37 year-old Bernard Williams was walking down the street in the 3400 Block of Broadway. Upon observing the Officers, Williams discarded a plastic bag containing what was believed to be marijuana. Officers retrieved the plastic bag and placed him under arrest. He was charged with Possession of Marijuana.
19 year-old Lester Pye was standing near an abandoned residence located in the 3200 Block of Second Street. Upon observing the Officers enter the block, Pye discarded a bag containing what was believed to be marijuana. Officers retrieved the bag and placed him under arrest. He was charged with Possession of Marijuana.
Officers conducted a traffic stop at
Marigny Street and North Claiborne Avenue The driver of the vehicle, 29-year-old Bruce Moore exited the vehicle and began running. After a brief foot pursuit, Officers captured Moore, at which time Moore discarded heroin and a small amount of marijuana. Moore was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Marijuana and Flight from an Officer.
A traffic stop was conducted by an officer at the intersection of
Convention Center Boulevard and Gaienni Street. As the officer approached the vehicle, he observed a small amount of marijuana in plain view in the passenger compartment area. The officer immediately ordered the driver, 30 year-old Dovone Jackson to exit the vehicle. The officer then recovered a small amount of marijuana. Jackson was charged with Possession of Marijuana.
Officers observed a vehicle parked at
Lizardi Street and Saint Claude Avenue. When the occupants in the vehicle observed the officers, they became extremely nervous. The subjects began frantically moving around the vehicle. Officers immediately exited their vehicle and approached the subjects. As Officers approached the vehicle they observed one of the passengers later identified as 48 year-old Sherman Derouselle attempt to conceal several foils of heroin. The drugs were retrieved and Derouselle was charged with Possession of Heroin.
22-year-old Kyron Johnson and 23 year-old Harry Meyers were wanted for Attempt First Degree Murder (2 Counts), Attempt First Degree Feticide and Criminal Damage by Detectives in the Seventh District. The incident occurred in the 8200 block of
Chef Menteur Hwy. They were arrested in the 2600 block of Jasmine Street without incident. Meyers was also arrested for an Aggravated Battery by Shooting that occurred in the 8200 block of Chef Menteur as well. He was also wanted for that charge by the Seventh District.
19-year-old Kernell Sanchez was wanted for Principal to Armed Robbery with a Firearm by Detectives in the First District. The incident occurred at
1413 North Claiborne Avenue. Sanchez was arrested at 2909 Saint Peters Street without incident.
18-year-old Alvin Everidge was wanted for Felony Carnal Knowledge by Detectives of the Sex Crimes Unit. He was arrested at
2002 Iberville Street without incident.
32 year-old Joseph Ceaser was wanted for First Degree Robbery by Detectives of the Eighth District. The incident occurred in the 900 block of
Governor Nicholls Street. He was arrested at 1422 Louisa Street without incident.
22-year-old Michael Broussard was wanted for a Fugitive Warrant for Attempted Manslaughter by the Slidell Police Department. Broussard was arrested by the Violent Offenders Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshall Service at
3213 Morrice Duncan Street without incident.
50-year-old Denardo Dunham was wanted for Sexual Battery by Detectives of the Sex Crimes Unit. Dunham was identified by the victim as the perpetrator who sexually assaulted her. A DNA sample was taken from the victim and perpetrator which revealed a positive match. Dunham was arrested at
7311 Downman Road without incident.
20-year-old Darren Brisco was wanted for Armed Robbery with a Firearm by Detectives of the First District. This incident occurred at
1413 North Claiborne Avenue. Brisco was arrested at 5438 Demontluzin Street without incident.
26-year-old Dwayne Boudreaux was wanted for Aggravated Rape and Aggravated Battery by Detectives of the Sex Crimes Unit. The incident occurred at
9301 Airline Highway. Boudreaux was arrested at 730 South Dupre Street without incident.
Since July of 2010, officers investigated approximately 2,627 complaints, executed approximately 13 search warrants, made approximately 340 felony cases, conducted approximately 1081 vehicle checks, issued approximately 102 citations, made approximately 77 narcotics cases, confiscated approximately 44 guns and numerous amounts of illegal substances.
