On Friday, November 5, 2010, Officers Charles Love and Bronson Gettridge, along with members of the Task Force and D.I.U., observed two subjects standing in a car port and one subject standing in the doorway of a residence, which was unoccupied.  The officers stopped and interviewed the subjects, since the area was recently hit with a rash of crimes, including residential burglaries.  During the interview of the subjects, the officers observed broken glass from a sliding glass door. The officers then checked the unoccupied residence, and observed a flat screen television, along with an orange bag filled with electronics on the floor.  The officers and detectives on scene learned that a report was just in reference to the same items.  The items were positively identified as stolen and learned through interviews from two of the subjects that the property was stolen and other details.  Detective Jason Thompson continued the investigation, and gathered information from two of the subjects that they were also involved in the residential burglary.  Subsequently, Detective Donald Sharp was able to confirm that a second flat screen television inside of the one the subject’s residence bedroom was also listed as stolen from another residential burglary.  The third subject had no involvement and was released.

On Sunday morning, November 7, 2010, at or about 3:13 am, Task Force Officers Charles Love and Bronson Gettridge heard several gunshots, near the intersection of the

Downman Road
and
Filmore Street
(outside of the “Sport Café Bar”), while en route to rejoin the other members the Task Force, who were located in the area conducting traffic enforcements.  Officers Love and Gettridge quickly learned of the identity of the perpetrator.  Through the course of the investigation, the officers learned that the perpetrator (female) was involved in a verbal altercation, with one or more females inside of the bar; involving a male acquaintance. The perpetrator then exited the bar to retrieve her handgun from her vehicle, concealed it in her purse, and re-entered the bar.  At one point, the perpetrator brandished the weapon in the bar, where security immediately grabbed her and the weapon, and escorted her out the bar.  Once outside, the perpetrator discharged two rounds in the direction of the victim, and missed.  Due to the officers’ rapid reaction of the fired shots, they were able to call for assistance from nearby officers, and make an apprehension of the perpetrator.  The officers were also able to locate and confiscate the perpetrator’s .40 caliber handgun, while other members of the Task Force and Night Watch Platoon maintained the chaotic crime scene.  Two spent casing were located on the scene.  The perpetrator was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Illegal Carrying of a Firearm, Illegal Discharge of a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm on Premises of an Alcoholic Beverage Outlet.
