NOPD VCAT Removes Repeat Violent Offender from the Ninth Ward Area
New Orleans, LA –The New Orleans Police Department's Violent Criminal Abatement Team has taken one more violent and repeat offender off the streets of New Orleans last week. The VCAT has arrested 52-year old Stephen Robinson for possession of crack cocaine and possession of a firearm while in possession of crack cocaine. The offense occurred on November 17, 2010, at a known location in the Ninth Ward area.
According to investigators, the VCAT received complaints from several concerned citizens in the community that Robinson was involved in illegal narcotic trafficking in the community. The VCAT set up surveillance and observed Robinson engage in a hand-to-hand transaction with an unknown individual.
Subsequently, Robinson was apprehended a short time later and investigators found Robinson to be in possession of crack cocaine and .22 caliber handgun.
Robinson was transported to Central Lock-up and booked accordingly for possession of crack cocaine and possession of a firearm while in possession of crack cocaine.
