Through the course of the investigation, Detective Clifton Neely learned that a picture was taken of the suspect while he was inside of the bar.  After the picture was circulated by the media, Detective Neely received a Crimestopper’s Tip of the identity of the suspect.  Detective Neely positively identified Vargas as the suspect and obtained an Arrest Warrant.  Today at approximately 5:15 P.M., Vargas was arrested in the 2600 block of

Tulane Avenue
/>.  Vargas was transported to Police Headquarters for questioning and was booked at Central Lock-Up with Aggravated Rape and Simple Robbery.
