It’s time to start planning your community parties/events for the 2010
“National Night Out Against Crime”
This year, the event is planned for Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to:
• Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
• Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime
programs;
• Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships;and
• Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are
organized and fighting back.
To register your group’s party or event just call New Orleans Police
Department Crime Prevention unit at 658-5590. Representatives from the
3rd District will visit all registered events.
This is also a good time to consider turning your group into an
organized “Neighborhood Watch Group”. The new Superintendent of
Police, Ronal Serpas, has asked for citizens to join with your local
police to form a union in fighting crime and making our neighborhoods
safe. If interested in starting your own neighborhood watch group,
email or call Sergeant Christopher Prochaska (

program.
Remember to report any suspicious persons or activities you see in
your neighborhood by calling 821-2222. In an emergency, call 911
immediately.
