On Tuesday, June 15th, 2010 at around 7:30 P.M., the victim had just
finished speaking with his neighbor in the 2000 block of Mirabeau
Avenue and started his pickup truck to leave, but soon realized that
he left his computer on in his home, so he went inside to turn it off
and use the restroom, leaving the truck running so that its interior
could cool off. When the victim returned, he found his vehicle
missing. On Wednesday, June 16th, 2010 at around 4:24 P.M., Third
District Sergeant Knyle Young, spotted the victim's vehicle while on
patrol near the intersection of Filmore Avenue and Warrington Street.
The vehicle stopped in the 5300 block of Wildair Street and three b/m
subjects exited and ran from the vehicle. Responding Officers
apprehended and arrested two of the subjects (driver & passenger),
both of whom were juveniles (16 and 15 years old, respectively), who
were charged in connection with the above offense. The victim's truck
was returned to him in good condition.
The Third District would like to remind its citizens not to leave
their vehicles unattended while the vehicle is running or the keys are
in the ignition for ANY period of time, no matter how brief.
If you have any further information on this incident, please call the
Third District at 658-6030. You may also call Crimestoppers
anonymously at 822-1111.
Remember to report any suspicious persons or activities you see in
your neighborhood by calling 821-2222. In an emergency, call 911
immediately.
