 Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Bust

New Orleans, LA – Members of the New Orleans Police Department's Fourth District's Task Force has arrested 22-year-old Charles Alexander and 21-year-old Aaron Bannister for possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.  The offense occurred on September 7, 2010, shortly after 1:00 P.M., at the intersection of General Degaulle and Shirley Drives.

Serpas said, "The New Orleans Police Department will continue to work vivaciously for the citizens of New Orleans as we move forward towards a safer city."

According to investigators, Officers Hunt and Foy were on proactive patrol near the intersection of General Degaulle and Shirley Drives when they observed a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville with illegally tinted windows.  As the officers affected a traffic stop and upon approaching the vehicle, Alexander rolled down the window and the officers smelled a pungent odor of burned marijuana emanating from the vehicle.  Officer Hunt went to the passenger side of the vehicle where Bannister was seated and observed a white plastic bag containing (25) individually wrapped bags of marijuana, (2) clear plastic bags containing (20) small bags of marijuana and one clear bag containing (9) small individually wrapped bags of marijuana in plain view inside of the vehicle.

Officers Foy and Hunt placed Alexander and Bannister under arrest for possession with the intent to distribute marijuana transported to Central Lock-up and booked accordingly.

As a result of Officers’ Foy and Hunt’s appetent work to make our citizens safer and rid our streets of drugs, approximately (2) pounds of marijuana were seized off our city streets.
