On Saturday, February 15, 2014 at approximately 9:48 P.M. the Second District Narcotics Unit were in the area of 3300 block of Lowerline Street when they heard several gunshots fired from that area.
The Second District Narcotics Unit went to the area where the gunshots were coming from and observed a black male, Gary Fincher D.O.B. 5-31-1976, hiding behind parked cars in the block. The Second District Narcotics Unit observed that Fincher was next to two large pitbulls and when Fincher observed the police he abruptly fled inside of the rear door at the residence in the 3200 block of Lowerline Street. Fincher exited the residence he entered and was detained by the Second District Narcotics Unit where they waited for a search warrant to be obtained.
A search warrant was obtained for the residence Fincher entered and the search revealed that the residence contained 148.45 grams of crack cocaine, 33.00 grams of marijuana, several items of drug paraphernalia (jars contain marijuana residue, digital scale, baggie). The rear bedroom to the residence contained a mini “indoor grow marijuana operation”. A total of $680.00 dollars and a fully loaded 9mm Taurus handgun were also found inside of the residence.
Fincher was charged with possession of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal cultivation, possession of a firearm with control dangerous substance, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Fincher was on probation from Orleans Parish for possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute from 05-17-10 to 05-25-12.
