NOPD Investigating Fatality on Interstate 10 West
New Orleans -The New Orleans Police Department’s Fatality Section is investigating an automobile fatality that left a 25-year-old male dead and a 26-year-old male in stable condition. The names of the victims are being withheld, pending notification of family members. The accident occurred shortly after 1:00 A.M., on Interstate 10 West near the South Claiborne exit.
According to investigators, the driver of a 2003 Ford Mustang GT was traveling westbound on Interstate 10, and for reasons unknown, apparently lost control of his vehicle and struck the concrete barrier causing the vehicle to flip over several times.
Emergency medical technicians arrived on the scene and pronounced the passenger dead. The driver was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
The investigating is ongoing. Charges are pending results of toxicology tests. The Orleans Parish Coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Fatality Investigator, Richard Blackmon, is in charge of the investigation.
