Kenner-Joseph Leonard, 17, was arrested earlier today (March 5, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.) in reference to the February 21, 2010, child kidnapping and theft of a motor vehicle that occurred outside the Brother’s Food Mart, located at 1227 Veterans Boulevard, in Kenner. Leonard was located and arrested by members of the U.S. Marshall’s Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force. Acting on a crime tip, members of the U.S. Marshall’s Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force located Joseph Leonard in the 2600 block of Augusta Street, in Kenner.
Joseph Leonard was interviewed by Kenner Police Detective Jesse Johnson. Leonard confessed to the theft of the motor vehicle. Leonard told detectives that he realized the child was in the back seat while driving to New Orleans. Leonard admitted to abandoning that child and vehicle in the 1200 block of Port Street in New Orleans.
Joseph Leonard was charged with the crimes of kidnapping and theft of a motor vehicle. Joseph Leonard remains in custody. No bond had been set.

Kenner-On Wednesday, February 17, 2010, the Kenner Police Department investigated a traffic crash fatality that occurred in the 100 block of West Airline Highway, at the Kenner Corp. limit and St. Charles Parish line.
At approximately 12:15 p.m., Wednesday, February 17, 2010, the Kenner Police Department responded to a single vehicle crash. A preliminary investigation revealed the driver identified as Manuel Lee Prater, 49, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, was driving a 2004 Dodge SQ3 dually pickup westbound in the left lane. For unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled into the eastbound lane where it left the roadway at the entrance of 181 West Airline Highway. After striking a curb, the vehicle continued over a levee embankment, though a chain link fence, and came to a stop after striking a steel barrier. Prater was pronounced dead on scene. Prater was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the traffic crash.

Kenner- Kenner Police have arrested Carol Banks, B/F, age 62, 3628 Loyola Drive, Kenner, La., for causing a multi-vehicle fatal crash in Kenner on February 10, 2010.
Based on physical evidence and independent witnesses, investigators were able to determine that Carol Banks was traveling a high rate of speed westbound on I-10 in a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis. Ms Banks swerved from the left land of travel into the center lane of traffic striking a Toyota Sienna. The impact sent the Toyota into a side slide, sending it across the median and directly into the path of a Chevy Tahoe traveling eastbound on I-10 eastbound. Ms Banks continued westbound striking an additional vehicle. Ms Banks exited I-10 on Loyola Drive were she was stopped by Officers responding to the scene.
The Toyota Sienna was being driving by Gerard Faucheux, age 42, of Meadville, Mississippi. The vehicles occupants were his father Nelson Faucheux age 72, of Paulina, La and his mother Shirley Faucheux, age 72, also of Paulina, La. All three died at the scene of the crash.
Carlo Banks was arrested by Investigators of the Kenner Police Traffic Division and charged with the following:
